Pain, the leader of the Akatsuki, launches an all-out assault on Konoha in search of the Nine-Tails. With the Six Paths of Pain at his command, he overwhelms the village’s defenders and leaves much of Konoha in ruins. Naruto, returning from his Sage Mode training, confronts Pain in a desperate fight to protect everything he loves. In the end, Naruto’s words about breaking the cycle of hatred reach Nagato, the man behind Pain, who chooses to use his last strength to revive the fallen villagers and end the attack. Naruto is hailed as a hero by the village that once shunned him.
